Potomac Valley Chapter
of the
American Rhododendron Society
Plants for Members

The Plants for Members Committee tries to propagate choice rhododendron and azalea varieties to be sold at reduced costs or at auction to our members. Chapter members who are interested in trying specific clones may request varieties online, and the committee will try to locate cuttings to root or small plants that can be grown on for the chapter. We encourage rhododendron enthusiasts to review the wish list, to see if they might be able to spare a cutting or two. Comments regarding culture or reliability of any of these plants is also encouraged.

The committee will try to grow extra plants of reliable varieties for our region, often referred to as our " Good Doers", which will be sold to the general public at our chapter plant sale.

For the 2006 Joint ARS/ASA Convention we hosted in Rockville, MD, we raised thousands of plants of new and rare varieties. Don Hyatt created a CD with all of the plants as well as images. That is being hosted on the Middle Atlantic Chapter ARS website:

Seeds and Seedlings

The Potomac Valley Chapter has a very extensive seed exchange list available for our members. Seeds are usually sent out in February of the calendar year.Check out our Winter Newsletters to see past seed offerings.
